Why "pithy"?

Mood: OK :)

Listening: To people mumbling in the library…shhhh!

Drinking: Good H2O

Eating: Not lunch yet…but salmon roll pretty soon! I’m so excited! Love food!

Reading: Stephen King’s On Writing: Memoir of the Craft

Ever since a vocab test in elementary school, I have been intrigued by the word, “pithy.” My first impression of the word was “pitiful” or “pathetic” because the words looked so similar and they were all fun to say when putting stress and emphasis on the p’s and t’s and their vowels. Surprisingly, the word is an adjective for “meaningful” or “brief.” And I thought it was cutest thing… I know…I’m weird. But it’s funny….same with people…you can expect the worse or define or judge it (or them…referring to people) as something awful, but they turn out to be something enchanting… Words are enchanting…well some. LOL.

I guess that explains the title I want to claim. A writer should be brief and not ramble on, but at the same time be full of meaning and purpose.

So let “pithy” be the word of the day, if you don’t know it yet. I know it may not be as significant or pretty as “pulchritude,” but it is a cute word.

What is your favorite vocab word? Maybe you can teach me something today.

P.S. The wise words from my New Year's post, "Progess...never Perfection," came from my Latin teacher from high school. A shout out and a Thank you . :)
